How do you determine if a polynomial is the difference of two squares?

myininaya (myininaya):

\[x^2-a^2\] <- this is difference of two scares

myininaya (myininaya):

lol i mean squares

OpenStudy (turingtest):

so that means if you find something that looks like\[x^2-C\]where C is some constant, take the square root of the number C and rewrite the expression as \[(x+\sqrt C)(x-\sqrt C)\]or if you look at myininaya's equations, hers becomes \[(x-a)(x+a)\]

hero (hero):

I like "scares" better. Many students are afraid of them anyway.

OpenStudy (turingtest):

lol :D
