when the atoms in an object are packed tightly together, the object will usually have a. larger shape b.higher density c. greater volume d. lower melting point

OpenStudy (kainui):

Lets think about it a second. If the atoms are all packed together, then that must mean they're not far apart. Imagine a sponge, it has a bunch of air holes and all the particles of it are far apart. You can squeeze it so that all the atoms are squished together, and it becomes smaller, so we can see that A is not the answer since it would have a smaller shape if it was packed together, right? Same thing for C, it would have a smaller volume since if it's spread out like the sponge it's bigger. Now what about melting point? We have no idea. So lets look at density, would squeezing the sponge together make more parts in a smaller area happen? Yeah, so we know the answer is B!
