what does internal slavery mean and what does external opression mean
external oppression is the unjust exercise of authority and power by one group over another. It includes imposing one group's belief system, values and life ways over another group. External oppression becomes internalised oppression when the oppressed group comes to believe and act as if the oppressor's beliefs system, values, and life way is reality. Internal slavery is a potential result of external oppression. In colonialism for example, a dominant culture will come in and impose their way of life on the natives. As a result, sometimes the natives begin to develop an inferiority complex and view the oppressors as superior. They will enslave themselves by trying to fit the mold cast by the oppressors.
