find the Laplace Transform of f(x) = sin(ax)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{a}{s^2 + a^2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's a laplace transform?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just a transformation from s parameter; makes it easier to solve shock(sudden change) in the system.eg, car accident, hammer hitting something, punch

I'm partial to this set of notes, so I'll post it too http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/Classes/DE/LaplaceTransforms.aspx Laplace transforms can reduce differential equations to algebra problems, so that is a handy trick to have.

OpenStudy (turingtest):

actually you should start here for the notes: http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/Classes/DE/LaplaceDefinition.aspx

Fourier transforms are used to express a Aperiodic signal using sinusoids, but only if the function satisfies dirichlet conditions. When a function cannot satisfy dirichlet conditions we use laplace transform.
