a ball rolled off the edge of a swimming pool and strikes the water 2 m away and .3 second later (a) what was the initial velocity of the ball (b)what is its speed when it struck the water?

OpenStudy (espex):

First determine your reference frame and set your 'x' and 'y' axis. Using the two equations; \[x=x _{0} + vx _{0} t + 1/2axt^2\] AND \[y = y_{0} + vy _{0}t + 1/2ayt ^{2}\] you can use the information you have to solve for initial x and final y. Recall that acceleration in the 'y' direction is the force of gravity.
