AC and BD are perpendicular bisectors of each other. a. Find DC b. Find DB c. Find AE (pic attached)

Bisectors mean the two lines meet exactly at mid point of each other. So, (b) and (c) above should be easy to figure out from the given information of 12 and 5.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Line DC length is simply the hypotenuse of the right triangle DEC (Remember DEC angle is a right angle because of perpendicular line). You are given two sides of that right triangle. Find the hypotenuse.

Ok so I see DC is 13, and DB is 12, but AE is 5, correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct on DC. DB is 24 as DE is 12. Correct on AE.

Ah, I see where I made my mistake, thanks for explaining how to do it I was a little confused, and my book didn't explain too well. Thank you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

DC is 13 because it is the square root of (12^2 + 5^2) = sqrt(169) = 13.
