If f(x) = 2x + 3 and g(x) = 4x – 5, what is f(x) ◦ g(x)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

g is the inner function, f is the outer function. Plug g into f. 2(4x-5)+3 = 8x-10+3 = 8x-7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its more common to write compositions as f(g(x)), just remember that and you'll know the 2nd function is the inner function
