If h(x) = −3x − 10, find h(−3).

h(-3)=-3(-3)-10=-1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its important to understand the notation involved. naming a function h simply allows us to reference it by name instead of by the rule that defines it; its equation. the (x) tells us what variable is at play within the function; in this case it is an "x" when we replace the (x) by any certain value; say (-3) that simply means that all x's have hte value -3 within the function.

h(-3)=-1

-1
