Luigi twirls a round piece of pizza dough overhead with a frequency of 60 revolutions per minute. a) Find the linear speed of a stray piece of pepperoni stuck on the dough 10 cm from the pizza’s center. b) In what direction will the pepperoni move if it flies off while the pizza is spinning? Explain.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it goes with 60 revolutions per minute, it means it moves 1 revolution per second. With one revolution per second, the speed of a stray piece will be \[2\pi r = 2\pi0.10m \approx 0.6m/s\] The direction of the pepperoni will be along the tangent of its movement at the point in which it flies off.
