Can someone help me understand on how to Solve Equations ?

I have no idea really. My teacher just gave me this packet saying solve the equations.
but ones like. 2x-10 = 8x+44

Essentially you want to keep adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing BOTH sides until you get x = something. This usually entails getting all the x terms on one side and all the other terms on the other.

So for yours:
2x - 10 = 8x + 44
subtract 44
2x -54 = 8x
subtract 2x
-54 = 6x
divide by 6
x = -9
