Hello! How does mentoring someone help them become successful?
Mentoring Someone in terms of becoming successful: (1) that person sees his/her mentor as not just another teacher in the classroom, but as some whom he/she can create a long lasting relationship with (THE MENTOR'S JOB IS TO PROVIDE A SUPPORTING NETWORK FOR HIS/HER MENTEE TO HELP HIM/HER GET FROM ONE STAGE OF LIFE TO THE NEXT) (2) the idea for having a role model.. be it that your mentor is your peer or someone older with a distinguished profession. (3) The mentor has the ability to influence the mentee to do something better/constructive with his/her life (4) if the mentor is successful, then the mentee will have the drive to become successful being that the mentee looks up to his/her mentor... I am a mentor at my school and these are some of the things that have been brought up
The mentor sees the road from point A to point B. Often, the person being mentored is smart and capable, but doesn't know how to quite connect the dots. The mentor directs them, sets them on the right course, and helps them deal with obstacles along the way. That's what makes a mentor different from a teacher. A teacher puts the information in your head; a mentor shows you the way to your goal, and helps get you moving. Ultimately, the mentee has to achieve the success, but the mentor helps them figure out what steps to take.
A mentor is somewhat like a parent. They will guide you along your journey and help you get where you need to be. They get your head in the right place, and kind of give you a little push to get you on track. Instead of just telling you what you need to know, a mentor sort of acts as both a friend and teacher. Mentoring someone helps them become successful because often the mentee needs help focusing on what they want in life. The mentor shows them what they know from knowledge and experience and helps them get there.
