Thermodynamics is used to mean "classical" thermodynamics. It's the theory of heat but from a macroscopic, phenomenological point of view which employs only concepts like temperature, quantity of heat, pressure...etc which can be measured directly, and without the need for any hypothetical assumptions such as in the atomistic point of view used in statistical thermodynamics.
