I have no idea what to do with this! Given the function g(x) = 4x - 5, compare and contrast g(2) and g(-4). Choose the statement that is true concerning these two values. Answer The value of g(2) is smaller than the value of g(-4). The values of g(2) and g(-4) cannot be compared. The value of g(2) is larger than the value of g(-4). The value of g(2) is the same as the value of g(-4).

Replace x in g(x) with 2 and then -4. Should be easy once you've done that.

The second one. :c

Sorry misread. Nope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

g(2) means "x=2" --> g(2)=4*2-5=3 g(-4) means "x=-4" --> g(-4)=4*(-4)-5=-21 The value of g(2) is smaller than the value of g(-4). --> g(2) < g(-4) --> 3 < -21 --> False The values of g(2) and g(-4) cannot be compared. --> False because 3 and -21 can be compared. The value of g(2) is larger than the value of g(-4). -->g(2) > g(-4) -->3 > -21 -->True The value of g(2) is the same as the value of g(-4). -->g(2)=g(-4) -->3=-21 -->False So the answer is "The value of g(2) is larger than the value of g(-4)."
