I'm looking for a different (and free) LaTeX frontend. I'm currently using WinEdt v.5. Any suggestions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, there is a new version? 6.0? XD

OpenStudy (zarkon):

I'm looking to go in a different direction ;)

Kile is my favourite.

i love my texmaker. http://www.xm1math.net/texmaker/ free and easy with linux, but not sure how it works on pc or mac

OpenStudy (zarkon):

Wow...that is really nice. I downloaded it for windows and am looking at an old exam I made. Seems to work really well.

OpenStudy (zarkon):

The side by side display of the latex code and the final PDF is awesome. Thanks! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you know that screen shot is the first time i saw the side by side feature! i have not used it, or maybe my version doesn't have it. will have to check it out. i imagine it would save on my typos considerable.

OpenStudy (zarkon):

When I installed on my office computer that was the default setting. On my home computer I had to enable it by going to options->configure texmaker then where it says Pdf Viewer I had to click on embed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thnks i'll try it when i get home

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dang i don't see it

OpenStudy (zarkon):

looks like you don't have that option.... I'm using Texmaker 3.1 on windows 7
