Find the direct variation equation of the graph through the points (0, 0) and (1, -2). Write in y=kx form.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

When x = 1, y = -2 when dealing with the point (1, -2) So y = kx becomes -2 = k(1) Solve for k to get: k = -2 So the equation is y = -2x

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Notice how when x = 0, y = -2(0) = 0 So we have x = 0 and y = 0, giving us the point (0, 0)
