Dual-Posting Questions in Similar Categories - I've noticed that a lot of people, to increase their chances to having a question answered, will post it in multiple similar rooms. For example, a physics q will find its way into Chem and Phys but also Math just to up chance of prompt reply. This seems a little silly to me, even though I understand the motivation behind multi-posting the Q. Are you guys annoyed by this and looking for a way to disencourage it, or is it more of a "oh, not a huge deal, more q's to answer!" sort of issue?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they just shouldn't post question in wrong section and what's more worrying is that some people post same question in same section few times or post a link to their question as new question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, not annoyed with the multi-posting. There are different people in each group and you never know who will see your question where. I would certainly expect someone that hasn't established themselves with a few groups to pepper their question around to find the groups that they can relate to.

I guess that there's nothing wrong in posting the question in many groups. If you have an exam tomorrow and you need to clear some doubts urgently, then there's nothing wrong in doing so. But if it happens unnecessarily then maybe you can take some steps.

you can ask in chat instead of posting questions everywhere

If the question is applicable to the group, that's fine. If not, please use the report abuse link and let us know about it. We do try to tell people not to post to non-germaine groups, and issue suspensions if they ignore our requests.
