Why do several authors of standard text-books provide answers only for odd numbered questions?

One reason, is beacuse these question are meant to be practice questions, the "harder" ones are he even numbered one

My thought is that the instructors want to be able to assign problems you can't just look up the answer to, but they also want you to be able to try similar problems that you can check the answers on so that you can get some idea if you are doing the problem right.
