what would be the equation for this graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

the part to the left is easy it is y=-x i cant clearly see the second part

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

what do you think? is that a quadratic?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know..?

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

bingo yes it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

look at the value of it at x=1 it is 1 at x=2 it is 4 So we have the graph is y=-x for x<1 and y=x^2 for x>1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since its quadratic...would it be -x^2?

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

even y=x^2 is a quadratic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thanks

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

why will it be -x^2? if it was - then at x=1 y would have been -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

umm so you get it or is it still unclear?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got it...thank you so much

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

np yw :D
