hi, i am writing an essay about two authors. my thesis is "Furthermore these characters in their road to self discovery illustrated self discovery as a means to acquire insight to one’s own character. For such self discovery, a positive attitude and adversity is necessary to gain a profound understanding of oneself and one’s goals in life." please fix it to reflect my opinion that to self discover ones' self one must pass through obstacles with focus and conduct sacrifice

Well, you said that you are writing about two authors but your thesis statement is talking about two characters. Are you talking about two characters that the authors wrote about or are you calling the authors characters? You might want to make that clear, especially in a thesis statement. Also, self discovery cannot be a means to acquiring insight to your character. It's the other way around. You get insight to your character on your way to discovering yourself. Don't begin with furthermore (just my opinion). Say 'these characters (if you want to use this word) ON (not in) their road to self discovery'. Also, a positive attitude AND adversity isn't necessary. Instead, a positive attitude during adversity aids or is helpful to...
