2x + 1 greater than or equal to 5 or -3x > -9 Part 1: Solve the inequality above. Part 2: Describe the graph of the solution.

OpenStudy (lilg132):

2x + 1 > 5 2x > 5 - 1 2x > 4 x > 2 do you understand how to do this now?

OpenStudy (lilg132):

-3x > -9 how would you do this?

OpenStudy (lilg132):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i understand you have you change the sing ... so if it's - you make it + ... i got it thank you

OpenStudy (lilg132):

can you do that equation so i can see your not making any mistakes -3x > -9

OpenStudy (lilg132):

sorry not equation i meant to say inequality

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure give me a sec...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3(x) greater than + 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or -9 greater than -3(x)

OpenStudy (lilg132):

that didnt solve it

OpenStudy (lilg132):

-3x > -9 so now what you do is you divide both sides by the number next to X which is 3 -3x / 3 > -9 / 3 which gives you -x > -3 now because X is a minus to change it to a positive we flip the sign over and change the x to a positive so x < 3
