hey someone please help me with this geometry question!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1322690273011:dw| PT = 2x, TR = y + 3, QT = 3x, TS = 2y can someone please help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry find the values of x and y in that pollygon

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any other information in the problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do they tell you that it's a parallelogram, or if any sides are parallel?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes they tell you its a parallelogram. and the information about the sides is the stuff below it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the diagonal of a parallelogram bisect each other, so PT=TR and QT=TS, 2x=y+3 and 3x=2y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 2y/3 2(2y/3) = 3 + y 4y/3 - y = 3 1/3y = 3 y=9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya thats what i got but i dont know how to go on farther... do you think that i could solve one of the equasions and then supstitute that in for the other one... like y=2x-3 and then put that in for y so 3x=2(2x-3)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 2y/3 = 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm ok? |dw:1322691452311:dw| that works too right? and i think its the same answer
