Can someone explain to me some things about IRC. Have read already some webpages, however, im a little bit confused

IRC is essentially a chat network that has been around for years. An IRC network can be composed of one or many IRC servers that process messages. On an IRC network, channels are the rooms that people chat in. Channel names usually start with a pound sign "#".
