need some hep...

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

hep.

hero (hero):

with?

hero (hero):

I guess you're going to keep me waiting :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

–x + 3y = 9 change the equation into slope-intercept form. Be sure to show all of your work. Identify the slope and y-intercept of the equation. Describe how you would graph this line using the slope-intercept method. Be sure to write in complete sentences.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the first thing i got this... y=mx+b where the m=slope and the b= y intercept y=mx+b 3y=x+9 y=x/3+3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that right or wrong to start off with? i tired.. keep that in mind .!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats right i do it like that

hero (hero):

It is correct. Do you have a strategy for explaining your steps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i just went with what u did yesterday and did that .. it helped alot

hero (hero):

Well, explaining the steps is pretty straightforward. You simply describe everything to did to get from the original equation to the slope-intercept form. You should probably describe it in same way you would describe it to someone if you were trying to teach them how to manipulate the equation from it's original form to the slope-intercept form in a step by step manner.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Keep me waiting 0.o i know that.. i just wanted to make sure it was correct before submitting, also i need you to do one thing for me if you don't mind because you see i don't know how to explain in words how to graph it.. help ?? :)

hero (hero):

Explaining how to do this is a project. This is why they write textbooks describing how to do all of these things. If you really want the steps I can create them for you but it will take some time to do it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hero? i just want to know how to graph it.. gosh.

hero (hero):

Oh, just how to graph it. Graphing it is pretty simple. You simply find the x and y intercepts and plot those on the graph, then draw a straight line between both points. The line you draw will be the graph of the equation y = x/3 + 3. I will explain to you exactly how to graph this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the slope and y intercept?

hero (hero):

1. Write out the original equation: y = x/3 +3 2. Find the x-intercept. To Find the x-intercept, replace y with 0, and solve for x: 0 = x/3 + 3 -3 = x/3 -9 = x Therefore, the x-intercept is the point (-9,0). Plot that point on a plane with x and y axes. 3. Find the y-intercept. To find the y-intercept, replace x with 0, and solve for y: y = 0/3+3 y = 0+3 y = 3 Therefore, the y-intercept is the point (0,3). Plot that point on the same xy plane. 4. Draw a straight line through those points using a straight edge such as a ruler. Label the straight line as the equation y = x/3+3

hero (hero):

The slope is 1/3. The y-intercept is 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Than i have to explain why the graphs of these to equations are different Y= -1/3x +3 and y=x/3+3 are the same and how they are different??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and same!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u do that to>
