i need help graphing a quadratic function

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Sure. do u have a problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you graph x^2+6x+5 how do i find the slope

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

quadratic equation isnt constant. so it's slope changes..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do u figure out the slope

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

u dont have to find it's slope. for sketching the quadratic equation u have to find the vertex and the y-intercept that's it.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

should i do it for u?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please show me an example

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

x^2+6x+5 =0 x^2 + 6x +(3)^2 - (3)^2 + 5 = 0 (x+3)^2 -9 + 5 = 0 (x+3)^2 - 4 = 0 So, vertex = (-3, -4) ===================================== now find the y intercept x^2+6x+5 =0 (0)^2+6(0)+5 =0 5 so, (0,5)
