I believe there is a disease called Chagas disease that is reemerging in the Amazonian region. "Human cases of Chagas disease are increasing, indicating that the disease may be emerging as a wider public health problem in the region"  Its from Trends in parasitology which is a reputable journal.

This is a better reference: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2627655/pdf/9452392.pdf IN addition to malaria, American Trypanosomiasis, Leishmaniasis (all parasitic diseases) and dengue & measles (vira) and cholera (bacterial) diseases are apparently reemerging. Hope that helps.
