please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5.2^3x+1=7.3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i do that

hero (hero):

You have to take logs of both sides

hero (hero):

But first subtract 1 from both sides: 5.2^3x = 6.3

hero (hero):

Then, when you take logs of both sides you get 3x log(5.2) = log(6.3) Then you divide both sides by log(5.2): 3x = log (5.2)/log(6.3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great i just didn't know how to start so is the answer .37213

hero (hero):

You can check it by re-substituting x back into the original equation and re-evaluating to make sure both sides are at least approximately equal to each other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

hero (hero):

Yeah, I made a mistake

hero (hero):

I divided by 8 instead of 3 I think

hero (hero):

Your answer is correct x = .372
