planks are used to build a house and like a house each candidate must have a sturdy base of political views they take. That being said the planks was his political platform. Andrew Jackson's reelection in 1832 was easily reelected as the candidate of the Democratic Party against Henry Clay, of the National Republican Party, and William Wirt, of the Anti-Masonic Party
