Install Slackware. Mothers don't know how to use linux. (usually)
whats slackware?
Slackware is the first distribution of linux and is considered by many to be the most secure, customizable, fast, and stable operating system in existance. It is used by several servers and supercomputers. It would probably be over you head if you've only used windows or mac your whole life so if you're interested in slipping into the world of linux then start off first with opensuse, ubuntu, or fedora. Be prepared to google many things you do not understand. And you will be navigating around your computer alot in a terminal (Black screen similar to windows command prompt). Heres a vid of slackware with fluxbox desktop (you have to choose your own desktop in linux and they are cooler than in windows) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAjBbXzDl-8
