) The price of a pound of ground beef was $1.90 in January 2000, and it was $2.83 in January 2010 (“Consumer price index,” 2011). Use the coordinates (2000, 1.90) and (2010, 2.83) to find the slope (or rate of change) between the two points. Show your work.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

First find the slope using the slope formula. Do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Subtract the y values of the points then subtract the x values of the points in the same order and write a fraction with the y difference on top and the x difference on the bottom.

Wow, that has to be subpar meat. I would call the USDA on that. That stuff can not be good.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

2.83 -1.90=.93 and 2010-2000=10 so the slope is .93/10 or .093

OpenStudy (mertsj):

And now you are done because all you had to do is find the slope.
