using TIBASIC-68k, how do I write a function that returns the sum of the elements of a vector, or a matrix column sum if a matrix is input?

I wanna emulate the MATLAB sum() function in my calculator, but built-in sigma() won't work :( and explicit for-loops are quite slow.
