What are the x– and y–intercepts of the quadratic equation y = (x – 3)2 – 25? Identify the x–intercepts by graphing the quadratic equation.

OpenStudy (eyust707):

you must have written it down wrong because that is not a quadratic equation

OpenStudy (eyust707):

is it like this? \[y=(x-3)^2-25 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yes i'm sorry, i can't do that sign on here. but that's how it is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x - 3 = \pm 5\] x = 8 or -5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y-intercept is -25 x-intercepts are 8 and -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x- intercepts are correct but not y-intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y - intercept is -16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you find the y intercept by making x=0 and then solving for y... and i should have checked my answers. y intercept is -16

OpenStudy (eyust707):

malou is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much!(:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for x intercept set y=0 and solve for x
