21x^2-56x

OpenStudy (mertsj):

If this is a factoring problem, factor out 7x and get 7x(3x-8)

if it's not a factoring problem then send chuck norris in to take care of stuff

it is a factoring problem. . and you please show me how you got that answer. .. im trying to understand how to factor the this polynomial question

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Look at the two terms. The first term is 21x^2 . The second term is -56x. Now ask yourself, "what factor do 21 and -56 have in common. The answer is 7. Then ask yourself what do x^2 and x have in common. The answer is x. So they have 7x in common and it can be factored out.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

\[21x ^{2} -56x = 7x(3x-8)\]

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You can always tell if what you write is true by using the distributive property and see if you get what you started with.

thank you very much. .
