A community is building a square park with sides that measure 80 meters. To separate the picnic area from the play area, the park is split by a diagonal line from opposite corners. Determine the approximate length of the diagonal line that splits the square. If necessary, round your answer to the nearest meter.

A chessboard is made of 64 small squares. Suppose a single square on a chessboard has an area of 6 square centimeters. How long is one side of the entire board, rounded to the nearest tenth of a centimeter?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

If the area of each square is 6 then each side is the square root of 6 which is 2.449. Now there would be 8 of these little squares on each side of the board and 8 times 2.4 is19.6 to the nearest tenth.
