i dont undertstand the question completely?

i don't get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its a geometric series. its like:\[\sum_{k=1}^{49}i^k=i+i^2+i^3+i^4+\ldots+i^{47}+i^{48}+i^{49} \]There are 49 terms in the summation. Using the geometric formula will provide the answer.
