How do the two modern agnathan classes differ in their life histories and ecologies? Why are sea lampreys important in the Great Lakes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As far as I'm aware lampreys are considered a pest and scientists are trying to remove them from the Great Lakes. Anyway, lampreys are aggressive predators which are affecting the dominance of lake trout (considered to be the apex predators in the Great Lakes). If there aren't enough apex predators then as you can imagine it throws the Lake's ecosystem out of balance. For more information regarding agnathan classes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnatha
