Explain, in your own words, the step-by-step process to simplifying the expression below. Include the simplified answer in your explanation. (10x^2 - 5) - (3x^2 - 2x + 7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, first distribute the -1 10x^2 - 5 - 3x^2 + 2x - 7 now simplify by adding like terms 7x^2 + 2x - 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to distribute the negative to (3x^2 - 2x + 7), which then would become (-3x^2 + 2x - 7). Now I would add or subtract like terms: 10x^2 - 5 - 3x^2 + 2x - 7 7x^2 + 2x - 5.

@mitosuki, you forgot the -7 :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see my answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7x^2 + 2x - 12 the answer should look like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):
