I think there is evidence that the mammillary bodies, extensions of the hypothalamus, are involved in olfactory memories. As for where they are stored, the primary site is probably in the hippocampus, with other diffuse areas scattered throughout the brain. A lot of things involving neuroanatomy and function is very controversial or unknown though...
