Need help writing a two page article for sociology 101 =/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not having to write papers is the exact reason i started studying math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I love papers!! And I hate math! SO! What topic in sociology 101?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay well I need to pick a ch. from the book & write a article on it.... I choose Ch.9 it's about Race,Ethnicity & Stereotype. I wanna talk bout Racism

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok is it double spaced? If so this is even easier? Make sure you cite the book just in case. Now then what is the prompt/Assignment. Now best thing for you to do is think on what stance on the article you wanna do.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to also site all the info I get from web sites, author, book etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok yes it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Awesome! So lets begin with the intro. What about racisim do you want to say?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kay I wanna talk bout racisim

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok well what about it? How will this relate to sociology? Are you just gonna talk about perceptions on Racism? What Racism is? like is the topic generally Racism? What we need to isolate is what the focus of the paper is. While we know it is racism, we need a better focus. What statment about it do you wanna make? (If I am getting this wrong please post the prompt of the assignment like what did the professor say to you about what the paper should look like?))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok let me look at my syllabus for better info

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Awesome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i read my syllabus it didnt say any info?=/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on nvrm i got more info now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well this makes sense now my teacher has articles from each chapter posted on blackboard & i have to read the article from the chapter my teacher posted & i have to connect to the book i can get more info from somewhere else but i have to say who said what with " "

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok! That s good. So how like can you connect the two? How do you want to connect the two?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Select 2 articles and write a 2-3 page paper relating the information in the article to an assigned chapter in the text. Use terms and concepts from the chapter and other prior information covered in lectures or in the text in prior chapters. Note that you are not writing a summary of the article. You may give your opinion at the end, but you are graded on your ability to connect the information and concepts in the course to the article.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok! So lets see the focus of the paper is connecting the racisim discussions in class to those in the text. Break it down. An easy way to do this is Intro Class Lectures/outside info (With quotes and note references and other outside sources) Textbook Compare and Contrast and Connect - After talking and discussing on what was said in the previous two categories. Lets connect the two. What similarities and connections can we make? Conclusion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait i have to pick a topic my teacher posted...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look Composting Toilets in Haiti http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/29/opinion/29kristof.html?_r=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok! So you wanna connect this to racisim?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no no forget racisim... start all over...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok! What chapter are we connecting this to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have to pick an article my teacher posted... like one of these Composting Toilets in Haiti http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/29/opinion/29kristof.html?_r=5 ------------------------------------------------------- Manila, City of Garbage: http://www.vbs.tv/shows.php?show=894543038 ---------------------------------------------------------- Charles Johnson: Looking Through Another Person's Eyes : http://thisibelieve.org/dsp_ShowEssay.php?uid=16684&lastname=Johnson&firstname=Charles%20&yval=0&start=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok well you did pick one now pick another and lets connect them to eachother and the text. Either way we will still be doing what I said eariler. We want to think about a clear direction with the paper. What do we want to say about the articles? What connections CAN we make?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we're doin 1 article at atime we dont connect the 2 articles we i have to connect with the article

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like connect my life

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to the article i read

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Select 2 articles and write a 2-3 page paper relating the information in the article to an assigned chapter in the text. Use terms and concepts from the chapter and other prior information covered in lectures or in the text in prior chapters. Note that you are not writing a summary of the article. You may give your opinion at the end, but you are graded on your ability to connect the information and concepts in the course to the article. ^ so we arent doing this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but i have to do 1 at a time..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea but that is the thing. I think you are missing the point. We aren't connecting it to your life as much as to the text and things from the lectures.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay well i gotta connect to books, sites etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i choose this article http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/29/opinion/29kristof.html?_r=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea so lets do that So lets look at the article. What connections Can you make to the text, Books, Sites, ect? We are looking for somewhat of things that could help us analyze this. If that makes sense.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kay I read the article

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it was about families with no food and hungry children and how a Dr came up with a Haitian farmers use virtually no fertilizer — less than a pound per acre, compared with about 90 pounds in the United States — and soils are severely depleted. But Sasha calculates that if half of Haitians’ human waste could be used as fertilizer, that would amount to a 17-fold increase in fertilizer use, more than doubling the country’s agricultural production. Sasha and Sarah have deployed 45 of their toilets, and now they are trying to introduce a municipal composting system in Cap Haitien.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i think u gave :( thanks anyway bye

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i am still here im tired it is super late atm for me and I have 2 court decisions to draft up. try to keep to what I said above. 1- Introduce what you are speaking about and state the direction of the paper. 2- Talk about the article 3- Talk about your lectures, readings, books, online sources 4- make the connections. Where can the lines be drawn? What connections can be made. 5- Conclude- end by reaffirming what you stated originally. Once you have a general outline you can add substance to the paper by using quotes, and your sources to fluff it up in addition to what you imput in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you very much with your time/help! Good Luck with your court discussions..night

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you and good luck alright. Just remember to not overthink. and once you are done writing leave it for a bit then come back and read it out loud to catch some grammatical errors.
