thats right. The magnatic field is a result of the current. its size is proportional to the size of current. and the direction is given by the right hand law (or screw law) so if u reverse the direction of the currnt then the direction of the magnetic field is reversed amper law - a way to calculate the magnitude of the field on most simple cases http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amp%C3%A8re%27s_circuital_law
