Hi e1:)...pls I need help with: write an equation of the line containing the specified point & perpendicular to the indicated line (4,-2) x=1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, what line is perp to "x" ? any guesses?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, I'm sorry

OpenStudy (amistre64):

|dw:1323195776287:dw| the trick is on noticing the equation itself; and this one is a favorite to trick up on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you got that right, I keep reading the material over and over

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the perp line to a an x= equation is a y= equation

OpenStudy (amistre64):

given the point: (4,-2) we see that y=-2 and that is our equation really. y = -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you amistre64 I need to look at this harder, but I'm sure you are right

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good luck with it :)
