In 1990, the population of africa was 643 million and by 2000 it had grown to 813 million. Write an exponential model in base b for the population of africa t after 1990. What is the annual percent increase?

OpenStudy (lilg132):

126.4385692068429%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need to see the work

OpenStudy (lilg132):

813 million divided by 643 million * 100 = percentage

OpenStudy (lilg132):

remember to click good answer :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, definetly not an exponential model, and its suppose to grow not shrink

OpenStudy (lilg132):

lol from 1990 it grew from 643 million people by 126.4385692068429% to 813 million

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just know thats not right lol, its not an exponential model :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm going to get rid of the million part just so it's easier to type. You'll have something like: \[813=643^{10k}\] I think that's right, then solve for k and you'll have a formula like:\[C=C _{0}^{kt}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm, well ive never seen that in class, haha, not sure that thats how you do it,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Might not be, it's been a while since I've done any with base b.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i have no clue :/ haha
