Can anyone describe a good method of measuring the refractive index of a substance such as glass.

OpenStudy (geometry_hater):

I know nothing of refrecting Glass but maybe This may help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refractive_index

I don't know measuring but I know two equations for calculating it: 1- Angle of incidence / Angle of refraction 2- Speed of 1st medium / Speed of 2nd medium

OpenStudy (anonymous):

RI =Angle of incidence / Angle of refraction|dw:1323377313170:dw| first draw a line Place two paper pin on it as marked in diagram now place glass and mark edes of glass on paper Now see pins through glass and try to fix two more pin on opposite side of glassby loking through glass and making them in line when u look through glass then draw line till the first line now draw perpendicular and measure angles. and using formula u can calculate refractive index
