I need help with improper fractions I have subtract them!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/4 - 1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do I find the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

DiyaDiya!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I forget how thopugh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

though*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No need to find the LCM of the numbers you could do that by using the product of the denominator or any multiple of it .. ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12 for the denomanator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what's the numarator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is 4 -3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 - 3 is 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is it 1/12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Diya: LCM is the least mulitple only where as you would get the same result using any multiple.. ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is the answer 1/ 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nopes, I was just checking your arithmetic :P what is 9-4 is ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9 - 4 is 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Diyadiya:Your 9 resemples 'a' ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

resembles*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what is my answer for 3/4 - 1/3 is it 1/12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did u get that answer though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How can you hope its understandable to me ? I am just a fool... :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Peacelover123:Diya is a magician she has invented charms to get the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but I need to show my work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Write Diya 10 times ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes .. Diya Diya ... like this :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is all 5/12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@PeaceLover do you understand why are you doing this ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is my home work!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lolz I mean why are you multiplying .. ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh so what is 3/4 - 1/3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ foolfor math cuz I don't know lol

OpenStudy (lilg132):

5/12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's $$\frac{5}{12}$$

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wish I could video chat

OpenStudy (lilg132):

or 0.416666666666666666666666666666

OpenStudy (lilg132):

* 0.41666666666666666666666666667

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 3/4 - 1/3 = 5/12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is because when you ever you need apply mathematical operations among the rationals you first need to bring them to the same denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I have another one
