Well i don't fully understand it either but i think it has something to do with Neuron's which is inside your brain

Brain cells (and other nerve cells in our bodies) create electrochemical impulses by manipulating Sodium and Potassium ions. Cell membranes have special channels than can allow those ions to pass in or out, thus creating voltage that can run across the whole nerve cell and be passed to the next cell.

When the you detect the stimulus the sensory neurones will send nerve impulses to the brain and the spinal cord which will send these impulses to the motor neurones and respond to the stimulus.
