Writing... I am good at writing when it comes to debating things, expressing my opinions, scientific papers, etc... Like papers on gay rights, religious beliefs, physiological disorders... Get the point? When it comes to fantasy. I have nothing. I have just been assigned a 20 page paper. It does not matter what it is about, as long as there is fantasy involved. Any ideas?

I agree creative writing can be quite challenging. Why don't you take your favorite scientific ideas and build a fantasy around it.  Or take your favorite social problem and imagine a solution.  Like you could imagine that Harry Potter came about because someone felt that boarding schools were full of bullies and social hierarchies.  Or Star Trek was a world where today's social problems - racisim, social injustice, corruption, moneymindedness etc did not exist.

I'm actually the other way around :P I LOVE creative writing but im so-so when it comes to essays and such. I like when there are no limits. When it comes to fantasy, often ill start from one mythical character and build off it. Take a necromancer for example. A necromancer is someone associated with the dead who can see and communicate with the afterlife. You could make your main character that, and build off it. There are many possibilities. (faeries, werewolves, shapeshifters, mind readers, and so on.)
