how many kilometers are in 5.05 millimeters? i just need to know how to show the work! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well a good way to do this is something called "dimensional analysis". 5.05 millimeters times, for examples, meters per millimeter cancels out the millimeters and leaves you with meters. Then multiply that by kilmeters per meter, and that cancels out the meters and leaves you with kilometers.

can you like "draw" it on here

OpenStudy (lilg132):

5.05 ×10-6 kilometres

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Start with your 5.05 millimeters. Multiply that by a ratio of "meters / millimeters". How many millimeters are in a meter?

OpenStudy (lilg132):

1 kilometre = 1 000 000 millimetres

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why 10^-6 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait got it! :) thanks!!
