how do surfactants work in stain removers? a. they dissolve the stain by allowing water to wet fabrics better, and they can surround molecules b. they oxizide the stain c. they simply whiten the stain d. none of the above

OpenStudy (espex):

I would say a) because a surfactant has a water soluble head and a water insoluble tail, the tail intermingles with the oil/dirt, and the head mixes with the water, which is what allows it to "wash" dirt out of your clothes.
