help please i dont understand these problems If the first step in the solution of the equation 2x - 8 = 5x + 3 is "subtract 2x," then what should the next step be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=-11/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you subtract 2x from both sides, that leaves you with -8 = 3x+3. Now you only have one x to work with. Subtract 3 from both sides, to get rid of another term, and that leaves you with -11 = 3x. Now all you have to do is divide both sides by 3 and you're done.
