Take the time you need, mate. You don't have to deliver the pset, nor anything like that.
Programming is challenging, and it never stops being that. If you are taking a long time to solve pset, be sure that it isn't because you are "slow", in the bad sense of the word, rather, you have to look for more ideas and solutions.
That being said, if you have the intuition behind solving the problem set, likely your error is something simple, but hard to see, like typing error, or writing = instead of ==.

It takes as long as it takes to get it.  

If you're hung up on one particular part for a long time, then ask for help.  There are some really smart cookies in this group that are willing to help.
