I am wondering if my comma usage is correct in this sentance? My past experiences working with the Illinois State Board in Springfield, and volunteering at the Children's Center of Carbondale, combined with my counseling education at University of Illinois, have allowed me to develop insight into the variety of challenges that many students face.

I appreciate any help that anyone can give. : )

Take out the and in "Springfield, and volunteering" and it should sound about right. Not sure about the comma between "Illinois" and "have" though. I think it look/sounds right though.

Thank you for your help! : )

You're more than welcome!

If write this way, it sounds better. My past experiences working with the Illinois State Board in Springfield, has given me the chance of volunteering at the Children's Center of Carbondale. If you combined that with my counseling education at the University of Illinois, this has allowed me to develop insight into the variety of challenges that many students may face.

@girlinthemirror: I might suggest changing "If you combined that with my counseling education at the University of Illinois, this has-" to "These, combined with my counseling education at the University of Illinois, has-" ect. THAT sounds much better and flows more.

I forget to reread before I post.

Lol its cool. :) I was just suggesting.

Here is my suggestion: My experiences working with the Illinois State Board, in Springfield, and volunteering at the Children's Center of Carbondale, combined with my counseling education at the University of Illinois, have allowed me to develop insight into the variety of challenges that many students face.
